Lincoln continues to grow in popularity as more
people come to discover this over-looked gem. The city is a
tourist centre; but is rarely overwhelmed by tourist.
Those who come, do so to visit the numerous historic
buildings including, of course, the Cathedral and the Castle and the
specialist shops of Steep Hill and Bailgate.
Whilst the City of Lincoln features all the bustle and
vibrance of city life. In contrast, just four miles away is
the quiet village of Waddington. It straddles the
Lincoln cliff escarpment with commanding views over the valley of
the River Witham from its old centre. Its attractive stone
buildings and friendly community make the village a much sought
after area in the region. The village offers all essential
amenities, village shops and supermarket, there is also a medical
centre. It is just a short walking distance to the bus stop
directly to Grantham or Lincoln.
Waddington is also
surrounded by a vast array of fun and interesting things to do
including walking, fishing, bowls and golf.
On the village’s
doorstep is a long distance footpath (147 miles long); The Viking
Way, which enters into Waddington from Humber Bridge, North
Lincolnshire and ends at Oakham, Rutland. The route heads
along the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds through territory once
occupied by Vikings.
The areas high class fishing, two fine golf
courses and the annual RAF International Air Show draw many visitors
but unlike the many people that come to visit the area,
Parkland residents never really have to leave. |
